Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere.
- All authors have contributed to the research and preparation of the article, and approved the submitted version of the manuscript.
- All authors have disclosed any conflict of interest.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- Authors understand and accept terms of Ethical guidelines for journal publication.
- Authors understand that the submission will undergo a routine detection of plagiarism through the iThenticate service.
Articles
Please submit your manuscripts in Microsoft Word .docx or .doc format. Restrict the length of manuscript to 30 pages, including graphs, tables, footnotes and references, using Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5. Equations can be written in font size 10.
The first page must contain: (1) title; (2) author details – all authors’ full names, affiliations, emails and ORCID identifiers; (3) abstract (max 150 words); (4) JEL classification codes; (5) up to six keywords; and (6) disclosure statements on financing and conflict of interest.
References should be cited according to the Harvard Style of Referencing.
Please use British (“-ise”) spelling style consistently throughout your manuscript.
When revising your manuscript for resubmission, please use our publication template, which is mandatory if the paper is accepted for publication.
To facilitate the peer-reviewing process, please submit two versions of the title page one with author details and the other anonymised. The editors and PSE staff are not allowed to disclose any identifying information about the authors to anyone other than the publisher.
Graphs, tables and images should be included in the main document. However, please also attach them as separate files to speed up the copyediting.
Book reviews
When submitting book reviews, please choose the option 'Manuscript - with author details'.
A typical book review should be no longer than 1,500 words.

Public Sector Economics (PSE) is a an Open Access Journal licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License, which permits use and redistribution (commercial and non-commercial), as long as the licensed work is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to PSE as original publisher.
Authors retain the copyright on the papers published in PSE but grant the right of first publication to the journal.
Papers published in PSE can be re-published only exceptionally and in unaltered form, e.g., as a chapter in a volume of an author’s collected papers, or as an unabridged translation for educational purposes. The author(s) must obtain written permission of the publisher and clearly indicate in a first page footnote the reference to the original publication in PSE.
Individual users may access, download, copy and display the papers published in PSE, provided that the authors’ intellectual and moral rights, reputation and integrity are not compromised. It is the obligation of the user to ensure that any reuse complies with the copyright policies of the owners.
If the content of papers published in the PSE is copied, downloaded or otherwise reused for non-commercial research and educational purposes, a link to the appropriate bibliographic citation (authors, title of the paper, PSE volume, year and page numbers) should be provided. Copyright notices and disclaimers must not be deleted.
